Dimebag Darrell Tone

  • by

Although his setup was as simple as can be, the cutthroat tone that launched forth from his axe is seldom achieved by amateurs and professionals alike. It’s probably the most sought after sound in the metal community, and has been ever since he emerged on the scene with Pantera in the early 90’s.

Pantera themselves were a force more innovative than any other during that period, forming a mechanical tightness that has been constantly imitated but never surpassed.Read More »Dimebag Darrell Tone

Guitar Tone Settings

  • by

So I found a whole list of general settings for different guitar sounds.  These are just the basics for the overall tone and not as in-depth as you may want. You can use these to give yourself a good starting point and then Google more info about the guitarist you’re trying to emulate and see what effects they use on top of the initial amp sound. Give ’em a try and see if it helps you!

Guitar Equalizers: Ins and Outs

  • by

For a good even tone no matter what the setting or amp or guitar, you always need a good quality EQ from your guitar to the rest of your effects chain.  For any type of clean playing, it’s necessary in order to smooth out the frequencies of your guitar and amp type.  No one wants to hear a guitar with a loud chime every time one of the higher strings are played, the same as tho you wouldn’t want to have the bass note drown out the rest of the notes in a chord.

I´m sure you all know what we are talking about when you hear the term “classic Fender sound”, right?!? It´s this vintage tone from the old Fender tube amps you can hear on countless records – bright, sparkling, percussive, Fenderish. All Fenders being based on roughly the same electronics, ideas and general schematics so they all have a sweet spot  with generally the same settings. Moruga Scorpion; Hottest Pepper in the World

  • by

I was just reading an article on the new Hottest Pepper in the World, the Moruga Scorpion Pepper.  So apparently this can pack up to 2,000,000 Scoville Units which is just un-heard of considering a jalapeno has about roughly 5,000 and a habanero has 250,000. Anyway here’s an excerpt from the article that I got to check out.  Click on the links above if you want to purchase seeds to grow your own Scorpion Plant!

There are super-hot chile varieties. And then there’s the sweat-inducing, tear-generating, mouth-on-fire Trinidad Moruga Scorpion.  With a name like that, it’s not surprising that months of research by the experts at New Mexico State University’s Chile Pepper Institute have identified the variety as the new hottest pepper on the planet.Read More »Moruga Scorpion; Hottest Pepper in the World

Basic Gravy Recipe

  • by
The other day, I did a chicken on the rotisserie, which is a great way to cook a healthy meal as all the fat drips right off and away from the meat, drippings which make for an excellent gravy that’s quick and easy to make. Mashed potatoes go great with barbecue chicken, so I decided to whip up some quick gravy with what I had in the cupboard.  You can sub-out the chicken drippings for beef or pork to make fresh gravy any time and you can see how easy it is to make once you know the basics. Use this recipe to help you make gravy for the first time.

Honey Bacon Habanero Glazed Wings

  • by
You can never go wrong with Hot Wings, the hotter the better.  I seen a recipe where they coat the wings in a spicy, light breading before being glazed with the sticky hot sauce. These wings are coated in a paprika spice blend, then glazed with Honey Habanero sauce, and finished with crisp cooked bacon.

Joe’s Crab Shack style Crab Dip

  • by

Joe’s Crab Shack is an alright place to go if you’re a fan for cheap seafood and good drinks. The random dancing is really annoying tho, and even the food can’t save that aspect.  They do make a great crab dip tho, and this recipe will get you pretty much as close as you can next to ordering it at the restaurant.
