I love caramelized Onions. This recipe is for a really tasty, sweet onion dip that blows the helluva good french onion away. Prepping it only take half an hour tops and it will stay good for a few days in the fridge.
- 4 sweet Maui Onions (Vidalia Onions plus 1 Tbsp Sugar per onion will work also)
- 2 Cups Sour Cream
- 1 Cup Buttermilk
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Caramelize thinly sliced onions in a small pan with a little bit oil. Don’t let them burn, just cook until beginning to brown.
- Add Caramelized Onions, Sour Cream, Buttermilk and Salt and Pepper to a mixer or food processor. Blend well then refrigerate.
- If using Maui Onions, they will last about 3 to 4 days. If the dip is made with Vidalia Onions, it will last about a week.
