Serbian Djuvec

This recipe is for an old Serbian dish, which is a meat and vegetable casserole of sorts. It’s a great slow cooker recipe as after you chop the veggies and brown the pork, it basically cooks itself.  It’s filling and sticks to your ribs to fill you up and give you that home-food feeling.

Ingredients:

  • 3 to 5 lbs Pork
  • 1 Cup Eggplant (chopped)
  • 3 Cups Tomatoes (crushed)
  • 1 Cup Rice (uncooked)
  • 1 Cup Zucchini (chopped)
  • 1 Cup Sweet Red Peppers (chopped)
  • 2 Cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 Tbsp Paprika
  • 1 Cup Onions (chopped)
  • 1 stalk Celery (chopped)
  • 3 Tbsp Parsley
  • 2 Cups Water
  • 1/2 Cup Olive oil
  • Salt and Pepper

Directions:

  1. Brown Pork in Skillet, then add to slow cooker.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and allow to cook for about 3.5 – 4 hours.
