Chicken Fried Bacon

Chicken Fried Bacon is a way of serving bacon and probably the most unhealthiest way to make it. This is a Texas style snack, so it’s big, it’s greasy and it’s deep fried meat dipped in country gravy. There’s nothing more ‘Murican than taking pork fat, frying it in grease then dipping it in butter gravy. Here’s a recipe to make some Country Fried Bacon or you can sub out the Bacon with Beef, Pork or Veal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Bacon (Or thinly pounded Veal, Beef Steak or Pork)
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Fresh Ground Pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • Season Salt to taste
Gravy Ingredients:
  • 3 Tbsp Butter
  • 3 Tbsp Flour
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 2 Tbsp Heavy Cream
  • 1/4 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • Fresh Ground Pepper to taste

Directions:

Chicken Fried Bacon:

  1. Heat oil in a frying pan over med-high heat.
  2. Put dry ingredients in one bowl and Egg + Milk into another. Coat Bacon (or other Meat) in Flour mix then Eggwash, repeat.
  3. Fry Bacon until golden brown then place on rack or paper towels and pat off excess grease.

To make cream gravy:

  1. Put Butter in a sauce pan over med-high heat. Whisk in the flour until well blended; cook over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes, until bubbly.
  2. Remove from heat and gradually add milk whisking constantly; return to heat & whisk until the gravy thickens; Whisk in the cream and seasonings.
